From 04pm January 31 2018, vehicle subway at My Thuy Interchange officially open. This will make the traffic jam at Cat Lai Port Zone decrease much.
Officially opening subway at My Thuy Interchange
From Jan. 31, vehicle subway using to turning left from Vo Chi Cong street into Nguyen Thi Dinh intersection of My Thuy interchange (District 2, Ho Chi Minh City) will be put into use to reduce traffic jams around Cat Lai Port Zone.
Accordingly, vehicle subway running from Ky Ha 3 bridge crossed the existing intersection, turn left, go to Nguyen Thi Dinh to the Cat Lai Port. The length of the tunnel is 405m, including more than 80m of underground tunnel. The subway has 2 lanes, with 9m wide.
Direction Plan through My Thuy Interchange
The plan for organizing traffic direction for vehicle traveling through the subway is belong to the project of My Thuy interchange (District 2).
- 2 – 3 wheels, pedestrian not allowed;
- Maximum speed allowed to pass through the subway is 40km/hour.
.The lanes on Vo Chi Cong road (from Ky Ha 3 bridge to vehicle subway) should be:
- The two left-lanes for automobile which come into My Thuy interchange;
- Two middle-lanes for automobile which go though vehicle subway;
- Two other right-lanes for 2 and 3-wheels vehicles..
At the end of the old year and the beginning of the new year, the traffic of good transportation reach 89% of the South and 50% of the country, it makes main roads around Cat Lai Port (such as Nguyen Thi Dinh, Vo Chi Cong. ..) often occurs congestion.
This not only affects the socio-economic in Ho Chi Minh City but also affects neighboring areas.
In addition, the Department of Transportation Ho Chi Minh City also said that the largest port inside the city will affect the city.
In the long-term, it is necessary to reduce cargo load into Cat Lai Port, move to surrounding ports or have space to move port to the right place.
It is known that the constructor will need more sites in next days to join the overpass.
This project will have to recover more than 5.76 ha of land, affecting 150 households in Cat Lai and Thanh My Loi wards (District 2). So far the compensation, clearance, handover is still happening.
